Itinerary
Day 1: Arusha Arrival Day
When you touch down at the airport, our friendly driver will be there to greet you with a smile.
We’ll load up your luggage and drive to our accommodation for the night, where you can check in, unwind, and settle in.
Once you’ve had a chance to relax, we’ll get your bike all set up just for you. Then it’s time to enjoy a delicious dinner and go over all the exciting details of your upcoming adventure.
Day 2: Arusha - West Kilimanjaro (150Km)
West Kilimanjaro is a wild and unspoiled gem spread across 250 square kilometers of pure African beauty.
This area, leased from the local Maasai, features wide-open plains, shady acacia woodlands, and jaw-dropping views of Mount Kilimanjaro that’ll have you reaching for your camera nonstop.
It’s also a wildlife lover’s dream, with elephants roaming freely and unique critters like lesser kudu, gerenuk, bat-eared foxes, and striped hyenas.
Your day ends at a quaint lodge & farm, where you’ll savor a wholesome dinner to recharge for tomorrow.
Day 3: West Kilimanjaro - Same (180Km)
After breakfast, it’s time to hit the road! We’ll leave our lodge behind and ride south toward the beautiful Pare Mountains.
Next, we climb into the Pare Mountains for sweeping views of the towns and villages below.
The day wraps up with a fun downhill ride on dirt roads, complete with sharp corners for a little extra challenge.
We’ll spend the night at a cozy hotel in Same, enjoying jaw-dropping views of the South Pare Mountains—perfect for recharging before the next adventure.
Day 4: Same - Lushoto Highlands (190km)
After fueling up with breakfast, get ready for sandy and stony trails that’ll keep your adrenaline pumping.
We’ll start by winding through the eastern Pare Mountains, descending into the southern ranges, where tarmac is just a memory.
The trail leads through untouched savannahs and past Lake Kalimawe, surrounded by rice fields and welcoming villages.
From there, we skirt the slopes near Mkomazi National Park, breaking for lunch before heading into the breathtaking Usambara Mountains.
Passing through villages like Mnazi and Mlalo, we ride among lush palm forests before reaching a thrilling zigzag road up to our lodge for the night Mtae (Mambo Village), perched at over 2,300 meters.
Day 5: Lushoto - Maasai Steppe (210Km)
Today, we venture into the Maasai Steppe Conservancy, nestled between Tarangire National Park and the Simanjiro Plains.
Along the way, watch for wildlife and stop by Maasai villages to learn about their unique culture and way of life.
Since nearly 92% of the steppe is Maasai village land, livestock herding is essential here.
Sustainable land management ensures both local communities and an array of wildlife can thrive in this arid ecosystem.
You’ll experience this land in its raw, authentic form—far removed from any commercial tourism.
Day 6: Maasai Steppe - Tarangire, Manyara Eco-system (275km)
This 8-hour ride takes us through semi-arid savannahs where wildlife and Maasai communities coexist.
After breakfast, we’ll navigate the dirt roads of the Tarangire-Manyara ecosystem, an important corridor for migrating animals.
Enjoy lunch in this unique landscape, then ride another hour through diverse terrain before switching to smooth tarmac for the final stretch.
The day ends at a tranquil lakeside spot—ideal for unwinding after an epic ride.
Day 7: Tarangire National Park (4x4 Game Drive)
Give the bikes a break and explore Tarangire National Park by 4x4 Land Cruiser.
After breakfast, we’ll head out for a morning game drive, where you can spot elephants, giraffes, lions, and antelopes like Thompson’s and Grant’s gazelles.
Elephants, zebras, and other wildlife are everywhere you look, making for an unforgettable day.
We’ll return to our unique stay on the park’s edge to relax by the pool.
Day 8: Tarangire - Karatu Via Lake Eyasi (140km)
After breakfast, we gear up and ride along the dramatic Great Rift Valley escarpment toward the Hadza community.
The rocky, hilly road keeps things exciting as we pass changing altitudes and lush vegetation, eventually arriving at Magara village near Lake Manyara National Park.
Then it’s off to Lake Eyasi, where we’ll meet the Hadza—one of the last remaining hunter-gatherer groups in East and Southern Africa.
They have a unique click language you may have seen on National Geographic. After this cultural visit, we ride to Karatu for the night.
Day 9: Karatu - Lake Natron (150km)
Today, we head east on winding dirt trails, leaving lush mountains for the vast savannah of the Maasai plains.
We’ll ride along the base of the Great Rift Valley, where the majestic Ol Donyo Lengai volcano dominates the horizon.
This active volcano, revered by the Maasai, last erupted in the 1970s. Covering 150 km over about 7 hours, the route features gravel, rocky, dusty, and sandy segments.
The rugged beauty of this landscape is striking—volcanic craters and desert plains surround Ol Donyo Lengai’s iconic cone.
We’ll end the day at our accommodation with the volcano as our backdrop.
Day 10: Ride around Lake Natron (40km)
Choose your route today: stick to an easy track or go for a more challenging ride around Lake Natron.
This vast soda lake extends to the Kenyan border, becoming a flamingo breeding sanctuary in season.
By late afternoon, the pink colonies mirrored in the shimmering water are a sight to behold. There’s also an option to cool off at the Ngaresero waterfall.
As evening falls, we say goodbye to our bikes, but the adventure continues with an upcoming exploration of the legendary Serengeti.
Day 11: Lake Natron - Serengeti (4x4 Game Drive)
After breakfast, we journey by 4x4 into Serengeti National Park.
Keep your eyes open for wildlife as we drive right through the heart of the park’s migration corridor.
The Serengeti is "Old Africa" at its finest—vast open plains, endless blue skies, and countless animals.
We will enjoy a delicious dinner to celebrate our new adventure once we arrive at the luxury camp looking over the Serengeti.
Day 12: Serengeti Full day (4x4 Game Drive)
After a good night's rest, get ready for another unforgettable day of wildlife viewing.
We’ll set off on a morning game drive to find buffalo, hippos, elephants, giraffes, and if timing is right, the wildebeest migration in all its glory.
In the late afternoon, we’ll head out again as the Serengeti glows in golden light to spot big cats like lions, leopards, and cheetahs, plus elephants, rhinos, gazelles, and antelope roaming free.
Then, we will return to our high-standard camp in the center of the Serengeti to enjoy a glass of wine with a dinner prepared by a local chef.
Day 13: Serengeti - Arusha (4x4 Game Drive & Transfer)
On our return to Arusha, we’ll make a few remarkable stops. First is Olduvai Gorge, the "Cradle of Mankind," where fossils and tools dating to the first human beings to ever walk the Earth.
Next up is Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site often called "Africa’s Garden of Eden."
This volcanic caldera teems with wildlife—from lions to the rare black rhino—all set against lush green plains and a soda lake.
After this final safari experience, we’ll head back to Arusha for a last meal together, celebrating the incredible journey we’ve shared.
Day 14: Arusha Departure Day
If you must depart, our staff will take you to the airport in time for your flight. If you have a late departure or want to stay longer, extra activities can be arranged.

"I simply loved our Bolivia 2016 trip. Bolivia is a very poor country but the people are friendly, the hotels were clean and the food good and very cheap. And, most importantly, the riding was excellent and exactly what we wanted to experience – a technical demanding ride over rough dirt backroads through lots of mountain passes. Cory is very professional and well organized. He soon warmed to our peculiar sense of humor and we really had a good time. I would definitely do this trip again in future."

"Bolivia and the route that Cory took us on is really “cool” in terms of an adventure motorcycle outing. It is certainly more technical than what I would imagine many GS1200 destinations are and that alone makes it special for more advanced riding. It is also certainly not a 2 up tour. In fact I found that riding it faster was safer than riding slower, as your concentration levels remain high; but doesn’t give you much sightseeing value, unless you stop. We generally wanted to ride bikes and not look at pretty scenery on a bike, thus it suited us.
Destinations, accommodation, meals and general operations was in my opinion, above average. Motorcycles worked well and all issues we had were dealt with effectively… Obviously a backup vehicle and spare bike is a great bonus. I would highly recommend Cory and this operation in Bolivia to anyone looking for an unforgettable adventure experience."

"My partner and I didn’t speak a bit of Spanish but we chose to do the 7 day self guided tour. I loved Colombia and its fantastic views. The people were friendly and the cities were full of history. Our point of contact, Ricardo, was awesome. He was incredibly helpful and friendly. He went above and beyond what we expected. He will be very successful in this business and you can’t go wrong with him on your side. The bikes were new and in great shape, absolutely perfect for the terrain. We had some problems but nothing we couldn’t deal with and it didn’t slow us down. It was planned for more off-road for us. We had mud, rocks, rain and landslides to deal with. It made it a true adventure!
I think you could ride the country for months and never ride the same road twice. WE WILL BE BACK!!!"

Just arrived home yesterday, with the long plane ride I had a lot of time to reflect on my time in Africa. I cannot speak for everyone, although I am an American and that’s just what we do! Haha. Many people talk about the “trip of a lifetime” and usually even though the travel was good it doesn’t leave you with that sense of a great adventure. I will tell you that for me the trip to Namibia and South Africa was absolutely the best trip I have ever been on. To answer your questions, the bikes were in great shape (except for some reason my tires kept going flat), but that’s another story. The description of the package was spot on, it will challenge riders of all levels. Accommodations were excellent, and the food was fantastic. I experienced so many different types of game it was amazing.

"The trip was awesome! The itinerary allowed some side excursions on “rest days” which we took full advantage of with trips to the Salar to Tara, Valle de la Luna, and Isla Incahuasi. The route suggestions were spot-on (my favourite being Ruta 9 north of Salta…we did it both directions…epic!).
If someone asks me whether I’d recommend a self-guided fly and ride with RIDE Adventures…the answer is absolutely YES!! Our experience was incredible, the scenery was stunning, the people amazing, and we overcame problems with help from your people on the ground. We are already talking about doing a ride in southern Chile and Argentina, plus riding the Lagunas route from SPDA to Uyuni is now on my bucket list. "FYI, I got back to Uvalde Texas yesterday afternoon. It was a great trip, I would sum it up as successful. The hotels, restaurants, and bike you choose were the best. The route and scenery was unbelievable. The weather was a bigger obstacle than I expected as were some of the roads. Nothing really difficult but 2700 miles was a challenge. Did I tell you that I celebrated my 70th birthday during the ride? Also I met lots of interesting people. I’m headed to Colorado to ski in ten days. And then???
- Congratulations to Ed Carnes from Texas for celebrating his 70th year with a successful solo Self-Guided "Fly & RIDE Patagonia, Tierra del Fuego & Ushuaia" trip! We sometimes wonder if some riders have read too much about the drama of Patagonia's conditions and are turned away as a result. Yes, winds and conditions can be tough sometimes, but Ed just showed us all how to do it: Be patient, keep at it, ride smart without showing off for your friends, and most careful, experienced dual sport riders can enjoy some of the world's best riding safely. This photo taken and recognized as the spot where RIDE Adventures was born by the simple thought "more people need to experience this." Ed had a few clouds that day, but when that sun cracks and the waters turn bright blue ... oh what a site.
