Great touring options to follow the Dakar Rally are now available through RIDE Adventures!
Check out our Follow The Dakar Rally page devoted to helping riders get out and see this outrageous motorsports event in person. You’ve seen it on T.V. for years, and probably followed the highlights of this brutal event online. Now you have the chance to actually ride along with the rally race, (right amongst the actual competitors at times) and witness the action up close.
The 34th edition of the world’s most famous rally race will be held in South America for the 4th consecutive year, this time passing through Argentina and Chile and finishing in Lima, Peru. Over 5 million spectators came out to see the 2011 race, another increase in fan following since the days in Africa and no doubt one of the reasons why ASO (Amaury Sport Organisation) seems to be settling into South America for this major sporting event.
As a side note, some tours will break away from the actual race and venture off to see what is arguably South America’s most famous site: Machu Picchu. The “Lost City of the Incas” as it was referred to by Hiram Bingham in 1911, the Nazca Lines, Ollantaytambo, and many other fantastic sites, cultures, and cuisines await you in Peru.
